Email from Amazon about 10 am to say latest order in locker
so hot footed over to the lockers to get
my new Kindle Touch !! Charged it up and spent afternoon figuring out how to
use it and getting all my books downloaded from my Amazon library.
Matt came over to check out the iMac which wasn’t working
properly and live video from Olympics on BBC iPlayer jumped from frame to frame.
This flat has no TV but very fast
broadband and we were able to get good video on 10 inch screen on netbook but
have to huddle up close to see it. He discovered that the iPlayer recent upgrade needs flash which the 10 year
old iMac doesn’t support so will need to get a new one. In meantime he had a
larger monitor and cable in a back cupboard here so we have netbook connected
to that so get decent sized picture. BBC
is running live coverage of heaps of events simultaneously
Spent afternoon watching the Cycling time trials from
Hampton Court palace which was pretty interesting stuff and again went off in
late afternoon for a walk down West End Lane and Abbey Road to St Johns Wood Rd
as I wanted to find the nearest place that I can hire a “Boris Bike” which was
down there.
There are dozens of bike stations in central London but none
further north than St Johns Wood probably because there is the Olympic Archery venue there at Lords Cricket
ground. So had a good look around there, peering through the railings though
the competition had ended for the day.
On the way down there were about 2 dozen people at the
Beatles famous pedestrian crossing outside the Abbey Rd Studios, the walls in
front of which are all covered with
written messages. The drivers on this road, especially the bus drivers must get
sick and tired of having to stop all the
time with groups of people marching across the road having photos taken. We might go down one
morning very early and take some photos.
