Monday 23rd July
Sunny day. Spent an hour or two getting our new home
organised for the next month then went off on Tube to Southwark to pick up our
Olympic tickets from Cartan, the NZ agents. They had said to pickup that week
but when we got there they said they were not open until Tuesday but kindly
found our tickets for us.
The nice surprise was
that for each day we have tickets to an Olympic event we get a daily transport
pass for all 9 sectors in greater London.
Sat in the sun in a square outside Royal Bank of
Scotland Head office with hundreds of
office workers eating tasty things from surrounding flash food outlets to eat
our picnic lunch and drink tea out of thermos. We have no shame!!
Walked back along South Bank with stop at Tate Modern ( to
use the loo) and saw amazing people installation, a group of people walked
slowly in silence from one end of the
turbine hall and then back again. Quite surreal really. Then to Waterloo to
catch the 139 bus home.
That same evening a man died there after he jumped off a
deck at the members bar at the top of the Tate !!
