Tuesday 22nd May Washington to New York
Took taxi to Friendship Heights Metro station to get metro to
Union Station by 10.30 am to get train to New York. Easy to scan booking letter
to get boarding pass but then scrum to get on train as no seats allocated. No
tickets or IDs actually checked until train underway. Made a bit of mockery of
security procedures.  |

Good uneventful trip ( about 4 hours), L watched episode of her favourite
TV series loaded onto netbook, I watched episode of Foyle’s War and then we
were in New York at Penn Station with Michelle waiting to meet us (between the
Police post and the display board just as she had said she would be, aren’t friends great !), onto 32 bus and 45 min bus ride
home to Queens that passed in a flash because so much talking was going on !!
Once we got off the bus we walked a couple of blocks and then were met by
Charles and Peter, what a nice surprise.

Bit of a hikewith suitcases up 3 flights of stairs to their apartment, but
strong blokes to help.
Interesting building Phipps Garden Apartments (? 1940’s
building) with about 400 apartments
around central courtyards with trees and flowers and also Sunnyside private
park across the road. Nice bottle of Kim Crawford with dinner just to make us
feel at home.
