Wednesday 11th July. Edinburgh

Packed and left Old Kilpatrick by 10.30 am. Torrential rain again on motorway to Edinburg where we arrived about midday. GPS took us straight to door of Edinburgh Metro YHA which is in the University of Edinburgh Halls of Residence right in the middle of the city just off Cowgate right by the South Bridge. Caro and Emily were already moved into our little apartment, 4 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen, bit jaded but comfortable and very handy.

We met up with them on Royal Mile and then they went off to do the tour of Mary Kings Close, the “plague street”. Lyndsay and I went off to the “Museum on the Mound” at the Bank of Scotland which is well worth a visit if you have any interest in either money or the history of Scotland and then on to the National Gallery of Scotland for the rest of the afternoon, a place where you could spend a whole day. Both of these are free.

Sausages and spuds for dinner followed by See’s Chocolates ( from Caro from LA) for dessert.
