Saturday 7th July Wedding in Portree

About 1.45pm I was learning against car waiting for Lynds in the main square when a group of 3 men and 3 women walked towards me all dressed to the nines. The women in obvious go- to- wedding clothes and the men all in dress kilts. They asked me to take a photo of them, then Lynds returned and we had group shots.

I then realised that there were lots of people dressed like this all heading to the small church in the square. Joined some local women watching and got the gossip, bride and groom both locals, but quite a few people from Glasgow etc. Bride arrived in a 1960’s convertible Morris Minor with driver in black suit and cap ( turned out to be a friend),they drove down street to church and then did abrupt right hand turn and disappeared into car park only to re appear a minute or two later. Piped into church, usual photographer orchestrated proceeding and even the blokes in local pub came out to watch.

Then a 1960’s bus all dressed in white ribbons arrived, I guess to convey the guests to reception.( Julie, just for you I took note of what the 4 bridesmaids were wearing , very nice grey, short dresses and bride in long white dress. Seemed a very cheerful event both for the participants and the dozens of onlookers.
