Sunday 15th July Ilam Hall to Stratford Upon Avon No rain
today !!
Left Ilam about 10 am, set GPS for no motorways and
gently wound our way through Derbyshire and Staffordshire back roads. Arrived
near Walsall about 11.30 am and found car boot sale in progress in rather wet
and muddy field. I bought 2 caps to replace my Team NZ one (which must have
been left on a bench in Edinburgh), a London 2012 beanie since still need one
occasionally and a small bag all for grand sum of £3.50 and Lyndsay found a new
scarf (50p) to replace her blue one which is probably blowing in the wind
around Hadrians Wall !!
Then onto Walsall for lunch with Steve and Rowena and
their two boys Dave and Jo. Steve and
Rowena were among our early guests at Parituhu, staying about a week back in
1998 and we have stayed in touch intermittently. It was so nice to see them and
have a good chat over the lovely lunch
Rowena had made for us, and have a bit of entertainment from Jo. In their photos of us from 1998 Lyndsay has red hair and I have on !! a shirt I still own

Then continued on to YHA another old country house, on
outskirts of Stratford, then quick dash to supermarket before it closed at 4
pm. Huge numbers of people in Stratford which woman at YHA said was usual every
day of the year.
After dinner all four of us went for a very pleasant walk,
until about 9.30 pm, down the quiet road
next to YHA where there are couple of
largish estates down the end plus old church and graveyard. Tried to walk back
through a public path but very overgrown with nettles so gave up on that.
